Air Greenland CEO leaves with day notice

Michael Højgaard joined Air Greenland as CEO in 2013, and the past four years have been characterized by several changes in the company. Michael Højgaard came to Air Greenland, where the company was in the process of redefining its current strategy, focusing on growth in the raw material sector, a market where expected growth did not occur. Air Greenland’s current strategy – ANU 2018 – was developed with focus on streamlining the company and growth within the tourism segment.

“Air Greenland plays an important role in Greenlandic society as a significant part of the country’s infrastructure – and it has a special social responsibility and it can be felt in the company’s culture.” Michael Højgaard explains, and continues,

“It has been a very exciting year in Air Greenland, and I have been pleased to have been allowed to be at the forefront of a company with so much professional knowledge and dedicated employees. Together we have delivered good results, and for me the time has come to look new challenges.

Chairman of the Board Søren Lennert Mortensen notes the change that Michael Højgaard has led the company through and will continue in the coming years:

“Michael has delivered good results and has succeeded in a challenging market situation. By 2016, we see the company’s largest revenue and operating profit ever, which is also a result of the efficiency and market development of the company that has been implemented. The foundation has therefore been laid for a new CEO to drive the company through the imminent conversion to the new market conditions that the airport package will bring. ”
