CPH most expensive transfer

Holidaymakers spend more on airport transfers than flights to more than a third of European destinations, according to a new survey.

Research gathered by flight compensation company Flightdelays.co.uk found that the most expensive airport transfers were from Geneva, where the typical cost is £170, more than four times the cost of the average air fare from Manchester.

The next most expensive transfer is from Copenhagen, where passengers should expect to pay £170.67 for an average 10-mile journey to a hotel, compared to £50 for 617-mile flight from Manchester. However, it is worth pointing out that the cost of the transfers might be shared between several passengers, which could bring the cost per passenger to below the typical air fare.

Flightdelay claimed transfers from Belfast, Weeze in Germany and Naples are also among the most expensive. The cheapest are from Milan and Moscow, it said. The data analysed the costs of all available airport transfer options, from rail travel to private taxi hire on June 1 to 80 different airports across popular destinations in Europe. Costs were then compared with flights to the destinations on the same date.
