Hilton will return to Denmark

“Hilton will return to Copenhagen. I hate to lose.”

This was what Christopher J. Nassetta, President and Chief Executive Officer for Hilton said to TTO Scandinavia during a visit to the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, where he was asked to comment that Hilton should no longer run the airport hotel in Copenhagen.

Hilton had operated the five star airport hotel in Copenhagen with 382 rooms since its opening on February 1, 2001.

Copenhagen Airport owns the hotel building and terminated the cooperation with Hilton .

From 1 April, the Norwegian hotel chain Choice was new operator of the hotel renamed Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport and renovated for 70 million.

Christopher J. Nassetta is President and CEO for Hilton with 800,000 rooms in 104 countries and territories with 14 brands, including flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. Premier brand portfolio also includes Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Canopy by Hilton, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton, Tru by Hilton, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations.

Oslo and Copenhagen

“Hilton currently has six properties in Scandinavia and recently opened Hilton Tallinn, our first in the Baltic’s,” says Nick Smart, Vice President Development, North & West Europe, Hilton.

”We do not have a specific target number of hotels in mind but are interested in expanding our presence in all major cities across Scandinavia, particularly the capital cities of Copenhagen and Oslo where we are currently not represented. We are looking for strong local partners in the market who we can work with under either Management or Franchise agreements.  We have a portfolio of several brands available meaning we provide options for owners looking at new build or adaptive re-use developments, as well as those seeking to re-brand an existing hotel,” says Nick Smart.
