Safety hits rock bottom in Thailand

The World Economic Forum now ranks Thailand 130th on a list of 141 nations for safety and security at tourist attractions.

This means that the security has been lowered since the bombing at the Erawan Shrine in the center of Bangkok, killing 20 last year.

That prompted Tourism Ministry now to hold a meeting with the Tourist Police and other agencies to set guidelines for establishing safety and security measures for tourists.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is installing x-ray scanning machines and bomb detectors at railway stations in the southern border provinces in order to step up security and ensure safety for all passengers.

The x-ray scanning machines to be installed in these areas are of the same standard as those installed at all airports across the country.
