Cambodia gets first travel mart

Tourism officials are gearing up to showcase the country’s resurgence and growing tourism industry as Siem Reap hosts Cambodia Travel Mart ‘CTM’ 2017 from 17 to 19 November. The inaugural CTM 2017 will serve as a business forum supported by tourism organisations of ASEAN member countries to boost local and regional tourism. CTM 2017 will feature about 200 national and international sellers and a similar number of national and international buyers equally divided between leisure and MICE segments, plus about 50 national and international media partners covering the event. The event will promote both ASEAN member country destinations to the world and highlight the aims of the regional bloc from a tourism perspective during this year’s Visit ASEAN@50 celebrations. Organised events include pre-online business matching and tourism related workshops, pre and post CTM tours of new products and destinations and a golf tournament. CTM is initiated by His Excellency Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism Cambodia, as the country expects to receive 5.5 million tourist arrivals, up from five million in 2016. Cambodia has set a target of seven million foreign tourist arrivals by 2020.
