Manhunt launched for an HIV-infected European in Thailand

Police have launched a nation-wide manhunt for an elderly European national who has allegedly slept with several young men and women despite the fact that he has AIDS.

An urgent order was sent to the northern-based 5th provincial police bureau by the Royal Thai Police Office for the police there to arrest the 52-year old Czech, identified as Zdenek Pfeifer against whom an arrest warrant was issued by the Interpol.

Pol Maj-Gen Pongdet Prommeechit, deputy commissioner of 5th provincial police bureau, described the Czech as a dangerous man and instructed police, especially in eight northern police, to arrest him on sight because of his sexual behavior of spreading AIDS to men and women.

He said the man was wanted in Czech Republic before he escaped to Thailand about three years ago and was reported to have travelled to several tourist destinations in Thailand during which, it was believed, that he had sex with several people.

Pongdet said the man had not been seen some time but police believe he is still in Thailand somewhere. He warned Thai women to stay away from this man and to report to the police of his whereabout.
