Marriott downshifts RevPAR

Marriott International says its third-quarter profit declined 23%, a development that may signal a slowdown in industry growth. The world’s largest hotel company also lowered its revenue per available room outlook for 2020, projecting growth from flat to 2%, writes Wall street Journal.

United Airlines and Marriott International announced a program under which the airline will offer passengers flying in the Polaris business-class cabin between New York and London complimentary baggage transfer to their hotel.

The program is only available on flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to London Heathrow.  It is available to all passengers in the cabin including those who hold upgraded tickets who are staying at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, the London Marriott Hotel Canary Whart, the London Marriott Hotel County Hall, the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, and the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London.

“As our customers continue to demand greater convenience and choices, we will be ready to deliver,” said Andrew Nocella, the airline’s chief customer officer, in referencing the new program.

Once passengers clear customs and immigration, they would proceed to a special baggage drop in the arrivals area.  No pre-registration is required.  Passengers will be notified of the arrival of their luggage at their hotel via the Marriott Bonvoy app.
