Strike hits ferry services in Greece

Ferry services to the Greek islands will be disrupted this weekend due to a four-day strike by the Panhellenic Seaman’s Federation.

They stopped work this morning at 6am and will not return until 6am on Tuesday.

As a result, ship and ferry sailings have been cancelled.

The main public sector union in Greece is taking part in separate industrial action today and tomorrow. As a result, there are no metro train or tram services in Athens today or on Saturday.

They are protesting against a vote in Parliament on Sunday for pension cuts and tax increases.

The strike will disrupt transport in Thessaloniki until Monday.
