Daily SIA to CPH and STO

The Joint Venture between Singapore Airlines (SIA) and SAS has been fruitful. They announced 40 % increased frequency from Copenhagen to the gateway of Southeast Asia, Singapore. From November 2019 dayly flights operated by Singapore
Airlines will increase to daily services.
By then the route will be served by an Airbus 350-900, a modern fuel optimized aircraft. The increased frequencies will benefit tourism and business.

The non-stop Copenhagen-Singapore route currently operates five days weekly. By November 2019 SIA will offer a daily departure under the Joint Venture with SAS.

“The additional flights show our mutual commitment to the important Nordic market and to grow our combined network reach. The increased frequency and the new aircraft will provide our customers fast, seamless and more convenient connectivity to key markets such as Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand,” says Erwin Widjaja, General Manager Nordics, Singapore Airlines. SIA has operated from Copenhagen Airport for 41 years.

 

Annually more than 117.000 passengers use the Singapore-Copenhagen route. 31 percent are inbound passengers from Singapore, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand on holiday or business in Denmark.

Southeast Asia – an engine of growth
More than 500 Scandinavian companies operate in different industries in Singapore, the gateway to Southeast Asia and home to more 650 million people. The economy of the South East Asia region is expected to grow by an 5-6 percent per year over the coming decade and is described as the world’s engine of growth. Well over 2000 Danish companies export goods to the ASEAN countries.

Visitors from the Nordic region to Singapore is also increasing. In 2018, January-September, 29,028 Danes and 38,475 Swedes visited Singapore. In 2017 the year-on-year increase in visitors to Singapore was 8.8 % from Denmark and 9.7 % from Sweden.

New type of aircraft to service the route

The current Boeing 777-300ER will be replaced by an Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The A350 will be in operation on the route from November 2019. The new aircraft is fitted with 42 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy Class and 187 Economy Class seats

 

From an environmental point of view the A350 is among the world’s most modern aircrafts. The A350 has a more aerodynamic design and is built of light materials, resulting in up to 25 pct. less fuel consumption. The aircraft has quiet engines, a spacious cabin, and mood LED light designed to calm and soothe, giving passengers a more comfortable flight.

Daily service from November 2019
Subject to regulatory approvals, the daily service will commence as flight SQ351 departing Copenhagen at 1230 hours daily and arrive in Singapore at 0730 hours the next day (all times are local and tentative). The return sector, operated as SQ352, will depart Singapore at 2350 hours and arrive in Copenhagen the following day at 0625 hrs.
