Crminals target cruiselines

Hurtigruten said it is providing cash assistance to scores of cruise guests who lost their luggage when a baggage truck was stolen on the way to the international airport in Santiago, Chile.

The truck was later recovered but more than 200 bags were gone, according to a Hurtigruten statement.

The cruise line said it is working with local law enforcement on the investigation and “shares in the frustration of this extraordinary situation.”

The passengers were preparing to sail to Antarctica from Punta Arenas. Hurtigruten said it is offering guests reimbursement of up to $2,000 to spend on new clothing and gear needed for the voyage.

Hurtigruten said it will also be offering free laundry service for the duration of the voyage as well as assistance contacting insurance services and other logistical matters.
