“No one asks for a shower”

Photo  Erwin Widjaja, General Manager, Nordics and Faris Nashir, Station Manager, Copenhagen, welcomed the new Airbus 350 in Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

It was a very unusual initiation that awaited when Singapore Airlines Airbus 350 landed for the first time in Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and the long-awaited route between Singapore and Stockholm, with a 90-minute stopover in Moscow, was launched.

Ministerial visits, three ambassadors and many guests helped open the new route, and four crew members from Singapore Airlines performed singing ABBA and Frank Sinatra.

The route operates five times a Week, the same as Singapore Airlines route to Copenhagen. Flight time with stop in Moscow is 13 hours and 50 minutes.

“Stockholm is an important addition to our Singapore Airlines network – Flights to Sweden will enlarge our European network to 11 countries and 15 destinations,” said Subhas Menon Regional Vice President Europe.

“Singapore Airlines will operate the new Airbus A350-900 and this aircraft will be the first of its kind at the Arlanda airport. From an environmental point of view the A350 is probably among the world’s most modern aircraft, built of light materials, it has quiet engines and uses less fuel,” continued Mr. Menon.

The airplane is equipped with 253 seats, 42 of which are in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy Class and 187 in Economy Class.

It brought joy when four crew members from Singapore Airlines sang and danced ABBA and Frank Sinatra.

Shower

“We make a survey among our customers, what they want and then we design the product. No one asks for a shower.

What they want is a good seat, a good bed and personal service. We try to create that product. We are pleased that customers do not want a shower on board the aircraft, so we do not have to fly with so much water, “says Subhas Menon to TTO Scandinavia in Stockholm.

“A 350 will fly to Stockholm, but not to Copenhagen.

“No. Here comes this fall our newest version of Boeing 777 with first class.”

“Singapore Airlines has five flights a week to Copenhagen. When will it be a daily flight?

“We think that five flights a week fit the market. If there is a need, we will go for daily flights. ”

“Singapore Airlines have a stop in Moscow?”

“Yes for the moment. But the goal is that all our flights should be nonstop.”

“What about Finland and Norway, as Singapore Airlines do not fly to?”

“We have no plans to start flights to Finland and Norway. The market situation now does not mean we have to fly to the two countries, but it can change, “says Subhas Menon.

Boeing 777

“From October, the route to Copenhagen will be flown with the new Boeing 777-300 ER. Customers can already buy the ticket online, “says Erwin Widjaja, General Manager, Nordics.

“How many tickets to first class have you sold?”

“I have not just checked. There are four seats in first class and Singapore Airlines will be the only airline in Copenhagen, which has first class. We must see how many we can sell, we hope for all of them, “says Erwin Widjaja.
